Saul Yeung is the founder and president of Central Computers. In business for over twenty years, Central Computers is the San Francisco Bay Area’s largest independent computer retailer, with four locations in the area. Along with retail sales of computer systems and parts, Central also offers repair and on-site technical support services. Its base of loyal customers includes many of the areas largest companies and institutions.
In addition to Central Computers, Mr. Yeung’s Central Group also includes a real estate company with over a dozen properties in its portfolio, and Central Floors, which imports bamboo and hardwood flooring. Mr. Yeung is currently searching for a fifth location for Central Computers and is dedicated to expanding Central’s presence even more rapidly in the coming years.
As Chairman of the Silicon Valley Chinese American Computer and Commerce Association, Mr. Yeung worked to regularize the Association’s activities and strengthen the size and energy of its membership base. During his tenure, the Association sent many member delegations on visits to China, to meet with government officials and scientific park administrators. Similarly, the Association played host to Chinese delegations visiting the Silicon Valley. Mr. Yeung is eager to continue to foster the Association’s growth as an Honorary Chairman.
Mr. Yeung was born in China, where he was educated through high school. While studying toward his university degree in Hong Kong, he worked with many notable American scholars of China studies, and eventually pursued his PhD in political science at University of California Berkeley. He suspended his studies in order to start the company that has developed into Central Computers and the Central Group companies, but has never lost his love for scholarship and devotion to Chinese politics. As such, he has recently resumed his studies at Berkeley and is now balancing the demands of his business with the project of finishing his PhD dissertation. |
